Salsa On 2 and Cuban salsa, taught right
We focus on two of the most popular salsa styles danced in New York City. Salsa On 2 (also called Mambo or New York style) breaks on the second beat for a smooth, musical feel — we split it into footwork (shines, timing, styling) and partnerwork (leading, following, turn patterns). Cuban salsa (Casino) is circular, playful, and the foundation of Rueda de Casino.
- Timing and musicality — hearing the clave and dancing On 2 with confidence
- Footwork and shines you can use on the social floor
- Lead-and-follow connection, turns, and partner patterns
- Cuban salsa fundamentals that open the door to Rueda
Beginner-friendly — no partner needed
Come on your own or with a friend — we rotate partners so everyone dances. Wear comfortable clothes and smooth-soled shoes, arrive 5–10 minutes early, and bring water. Queens Plaza Studios is a short walk from the E / M / R / 7 trains at Queens Plaza and Queensboro Plaza, 42-01 Crescent St, Long Island City, NY 11101.
